Laparoscopic Control of a Leaking Inferior Mesenteric Vessel Secondary to Trocar Injury

چکیده
BACKGROUND Vascular injury is the most urgent type of trauma at laparoscopy. It is thought that the rate of vascular injury may increase as the complexity of laparoscopic surgery increases. To our knowledge, this is the first report of laparoscopic management of a leaking inferior mesenteric artery caused by trauma. METHOD Case report. RESULTS Successful laparoscopic management of a leaking inferior mesenteric artery secondary to trocar insertion. CONCLUSION Laparoscopic management of a vascular injury in a hemodynamically stable patient is possible.

Major retroperitoneal vascular injury during laparoscopic surgery.
We sought to assess the outcome of large retroperitoneal vascular injury that occurred during operative laparoscopy but was not related to trocar or Veress needle injury. We conducted a retrospective review of cases operated and reviewed by our centres. Eight cases were identified. Four women were undergoing lymphadenectomy, where vascular injury is a recognized risk. Distorted anatomy was a co...

Leriche syndrome is a disease of aortoiliac occlusion, which causes diminished femoral pulses, impotence and claudication. As blood flow to the rectum is also decreased in Leriche syndrome, reconstruction with anastomosis may be complicated by ischemia when performing rectal cancer surgery. The inferior epigastric arteries often provide collateral circulation to the lower limbs in patients with...

HYPOTHESIS Transverse rectus abdominus musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap breast reconstruction provides excellent cosmetic results. Pedicle flap viability is greatly enhanced by prereconstruction inferior epigastric vessel ligation, which encourages collateral arterial flow (delayed TRAM). We report our initial experience with laparoscopic inferior epigastric vessel ligation. DESIGN Prospective ca...

INTRODUCTION LAPAROSCOPY AND OPERATIVE LAPAROSCOPY are the second most commonly performed gynecologic procedures after dilatation and curettage. During these procedures, injuries to the blood vessels in the abdominal wall have resulted from direct trauma caused by either the pneumoperitoneum needle or the trocars. (1) An injury can occur despite direct visualization, elevation of the abdominal ...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Abdominal Access and Prevention of Injury
Approximately 1 in every 1000 patients undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery will experience bowel or vessel perforation injury by trocars during initial access.1 A systematic review of studies found no conclusive evidence that any one method of gaining initial access and establishing pneumoperitoneum during laparoscopic surgery is safer or more efficacious than another.2 While injuries occ...
